As part of the Panthers community outreach, players will make non-gratuitous appearances at non-profit events, schools and civic functions, based on their availability. Players will also make gratuitous appearances at for-profit events and corporate functions. The following information will explain the procedures and guidelines to assist you with your appearance request as it relates to the potential involvement of players.
During the regular season, players are able to make appearances on Tuesdays, their only day off each week. Tuesday appearances are not scheduled before 9:00 a.m. or after 5:00 p.m. Late morning or early afternoon appearances are preferred.
Players cannot make appearances during the playoffs, mini-camps (May), summer school (June) or training camp (July-August). Appearances during the offseason are limited due to the availability of players residing in the Carolinas.
Speaking engagements usually last one hour. Paid promotional appearances vary in length, but most are scheduled for two hours. Unless formal dress is requested, players often wear casual clothing, a golf shirt and slacks, to appearances.
All appearances are subject to the Carolina Panthers approval and player availability. The Carolina Panthers must first approve any publicity that mentions a player appearance or includes the team's logo.
Guidelines
Appearance requests must be submitted in writing on the organization's letterhead at least six weeks prior to the event and include the following information:
- Organization's name, address and telephone number
- Contact person's name
- Day, date, time and length of event
- Type of event/program
- Specific role of player(s) and/or staff member(s)
- Event location
- Directions and estimated drive time to the event location
- Estimated attendance
It is highly recommended that your event not be centered on an appearance by a Carolina Panthers player or staff member but rather be considered as a complimentary element to your program. Understand that the Panthers are unable to fulfill many requests due to scheduling conflicts.
As an alternative to an appearance by a Carolina Panthers player, you may want to consider the Carolina Panthers Junior Training Camp, which brings the experience of an NFL Training Camp to children in an effort to increase their interest in team sports and inspire them to become physically fit. The free camp teaches kids football drills and essential life skills.
Procedures
- All requests must be submitted in writing on the organization's letterhead and be accompanied by a COMPLETED Appearance Request Form at least six weeks prior to the event. No telephone, faxed or e-mail requests will be accepted.
- All requests will receive a letter of approval or denial two to three weeks before the event. Approved appearances will also receive a confirmation telephone call from a Panthers representative. As a result of numerous requests each week, the process can be lengthy. Please be patient.
- Submitting a request and appearance form does not guarantee an appearance.
- Requests and appearance forms must be mailed to the Carolina Panthers, attn: Bernadette Washington, Community Relations Assistant, 800 South Mint Street, Charlotte, NC, 28202.
