Numbers Crunch

Numbers Crunch, sponsored by Microsoft, is a full-contact math competition for high school math teams in North and South Carolina that uses football variables to challenge "mathletes" in physics, geometry and other problem-solving disciplines. High school math teams comprised of five students each put pencil to paper in the pre-calculus and calculus level competition, which features a series of timed problems based on the physics, geometry and ratios of football.

Following an orientation in the Panthers team meeting room, the students adjourn to the press box at Bank of America Stadium for the 60-minute test. The test curriculum is developed in cooperation with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools as well as math professors from area colleges. The students also enjoy lunch in the press box and a stadium tour.
