
Be a part of the gameday experience at Bank of America Stadium and visible in communities throughout the Carolinas as a member of PurrCussion - the Carolina Panthers drumline. Consisting of snare drums, tenor drums, bass drums and cymbal players, PurrCussion performs at every home game, including on-field for player introductions, and entertains fans at charitable and corporate events.

Open Rehearsals - Check-in begins 30 minutes prior to the start of rehearsal. Candidates will be divided into sectionals and run through a technical warm-up. Then candidates will be taught a piece by PurrCussion instructors. Candidates will be evaluated at the end of the rehearsal on a performance of the piece as well as their overall musicianship, presentation and showmanship. A different piece will be taught at each rehearsal, and candidates will be evaluated at the Judges' Table on their knowledge of each piece throughout the audition process. Participants are welcome and encouraged to audition for more than one instrument.
Final Open Rehearsal/Judges' Table - Judges' Table will consist of a performance of each piece taught during auditions, interview of each candidate, solo performance by each candidate and meeting to review the responsibilities of becoming a member of the PurrCussion drumline. All snare, bass, and tenor candidates should prepare a solo performance of up to one (1) minute in length to showcase their abilities.
Completion of the registration form below is required to audition for PurrCussion. The registration deadline is Friday, May 3, 2013 by 5 p.m.
Contestants should wear attire suitable for performances. Restrooms will be available; however, there will be no formal changing facilities.
Drums and cymbals will be provided, but contestants should bring sticks and a practice pad. Additionally, concession stands will not be open. Contestants should supply their own snacks and beverages.
Auditions are CLOSED to the public. Only contestants will be allowed inside the stadium. No video cameras are permitted.
Question: What does it take to become a PurrCussionist
Answer:
Question: Is being a Carolina Panthers drumline member a full-time job?
Answer: No. Being a PurrCussionist is a part-time commitment. Most members hold other full-time jobs or attend college.
Question: Do I have to relocate to the Charlotte area if selected as a PurrCussionist?
Answer: No. We are proud to have PurrCussionists living in North and South Carolina.
Question: Are there any age requirements?
Answer: Yes, all candidates must meet the minimum age requirement, which is 21 years old by June 23, 2013. There is no maximum age limit.
Question: Is there a cost to audition?
Answer: There is no cost to audition on May 5. However, pre-registration is required.
Question: If I make the drumline, what type of time commitment is required?
Answer: From June through the end of the season, PurrCussion rehearses weekly with practices on Sundays. PurrCussion performs at all Panthers home games and also makes charity and corporate appearances throughout the season.
