Otah has knee scoped

Posted Aug 4, 2010

Starting right tackle Jeff Otah underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in Charlotte on Wednesday morning.

Head coach John Fox said he is hopeful Otah can still be ready to play in the regular season opener at the New York Giants on Sept. 12.

"We feel like it was a typical scope and got it cleaned up," Fox said. "I think it was a good move and something he'll recover from pretty quickly and make sure he's healthy to start the season."

Otah missed the last three games of the 2009 season after suffering a torn meniscus in his left knee at New England on Dec. 13. He had surgery on the knee during the offseason and began training camp on the physically unable to perform list.

Otah been working with team's strength and conditioning coach and athletic trainers, but his knee had been bothering him in recent days, resulting in today's procedure.

In other injury news, offensive tackle Garry Williams missed Wednesday's afternoon practice with an injured shoulder.
