CHARLOTTE - The Panthers have signed kicker
The team has also waived kicker Adi Kunalic, who rejoined the team late last season to provide competition for veteran kicker
"We think he's a good person to bring in to training camp to provide competition," Panthers general manager Marty Hurney said. "He's a young, talented kicker. Whenever you have an opportunity to sign young, talented players, you sign them and let them come in and compete."
The left-footed Medlock made 49-of-55 field goals for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last season. Over three CFL seasons, the first two with the Toronto Argonauts, he hit 96-of-111 field goals. He also punted in 2009 and 2011, averaging 41.9 yards.
"Like a lot of young kickers, he has bounced around some," Hurney said. "He obviously has a lot of ability."
Medlock was a first-team All-American at UCLA in 2006, prompting the Chiefs to select him in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He was Kansas City's kicker for the season opener but was waived by the Chiefs after missing a 30-yarder in his debut.
The Rams, Redskins and Lions have since brought Medlock in for offseason looks.
