Two Panthers staffers earn recognition

Posted Mar 6, 2018

College scout Eric Stokes and assistant athletic trainer Mark Shermansky earned awards in their respective fields.

The Panthers recently earned awards in both the athletic training and scouting departments.

Mark Shermansky, an assistant athletic trainer for Carolina since 2002, was named Tim Davey NFC Athletic Trainer of the Year by the Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society.

Said head athletic trainer Ryan Vermillion: “Mark is a big part of our organization, helping our players stay healthy and helping them maximize their abilities. What he’s done to help get our guys back on the field is second to none. He brings such a positive attitude, and there is a lot of hard work that goes unnoticed. It’s nice to see him recognized.”

Eric Stokes, a college scout for Carolina since 2016, was named NFC Scout of the Year by the Fritz Pollard Alliance.

Stokes has been working the Southwest area. The former NFL safety came to the Panthers after two seasons as the assistant general manager for the Miami Dolphins.

Said director of college scouting Jeff Morrow: "Eric is very professional in his approach to scouting. He's doing a terrific job in the Southwest region for us. We're lucky to have him has a member of the Panthers organization."
