CHARLOTTE – The Panthers appear poised to bolster their receiving corps with the potential addition of unrestricted free agent wide receiver and former New York Giant
"I'm even more blessed to be joining another great organization, the Carolina Panthers!" Hixon tweeted. "I'm excited and can't wait to start work!"
Per team policy, the club can not confirm agreements until the actual contract is finalized and submitted to the league.
Hixon – a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Giants – spent the previous five seasons in New York, playing 57 games and starting 13. He recorded 39 receptions for 567 yards and two touchdowns in 2012. His career totals include 102 receptions, 1,405 yards and six touchdowns.
A fourth-round draft choice out of Akron by the Broncos in 2006, Hixon played sparingly in Denver before being released and joining the Giants during the 2007 season.
Hixon would be the second free agent wide receiver to join the Panthers this offseason along with former San Francisco 49er
Wide receiver Louis Murphy – who spent the 2012 season in Carolina – recently signed with the Giants as an unrestricted free agent.
