CHARLOTTE — Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey is expected to miss some time with the hamstring injury suffered in Thursday night's win at Houston.

How much time, they still don't know.

Panthers head coach Matt Rhule said Friday he McCaffrey was still undergoing tests, and they aren't sure if he'd need to go on injured reserve or not. IR would mean a three-week absence, and Rhule said they weren't sure if it would be a week or two or three or longer right now.

McCaffrey entered the game leading the league with 324 yards from scrimmage, but wasn't able to add much to that total.

He had seven carries for 31 yards and two catches for nine yards before he left early in the second quarter. He spent about 20 minutes in the medical tent on the sideline before walking slowly to the locker room.

The Panthers finished the game with Chuba Hubbard and Royce Freeman, and were able to run well enough in the second half to win their third straight game.

They have running backs Rodney Smith and Spencer Brown on the practice squad.
