CHARLOTTE — The Panthers are going with a new look up front this week, putting a rookie in a position of more responsibility.
The Panthers deactivated veteran backup tackle Trent Scott, leaving third-rounder Brady Christensen as the backup tackle for Sunday's game against the Saints.
Veteran guard John Miller is back in the starting lineup this week, after Dennis Daley replaced him in Week 1.
The Panthers had to leave seven players inactive Sunday, after elevating cornerback Rashaan Melvin and center Sam Tecklenburg from the practice squad on Saturday.
Rookie wide receiver Shi Smith was on the inactive list again, after recovering from his preseason shoulder injury. Also inactive were guards Michael Jordan and Deonte Brown, defensive tackle Phil Hoskins, defensive end Darryl Johnson, and tight end Colin Thompson.
