Inactives: Panthers without a couple of injured starters

Shaq Thompson

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The Panthers will be missing a pair of starters, heading into today's game against the Giants.

The Panthers were without injured linebacker Shaq Thompson (foot), wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. (concussion), fullback Giovanni Ricci (concussion), along with left tackle Cameron Erving (neck/illness).

They also deactivated defensive tackle Phil Hoskins, defensive end Darryl Johnson, and cornerback Rashaan Melvin.

Erving didn't make the trip, clearing the way for Brady Christensen to start in his spot. The rookie started at right tackle two weeks ago against the Eagles.

Thompson is getting closer to a return from the foot injury he suffered in Dallas, but hasn't resumed practicing yet. CJ Henderson returns to the active list this week after missing last week's game against the Vikings.

The Panthers promoted practice squad receivers Keith Kirkwood and Aaron Parker to help provide depth this week, since Brandon Zylstra went on IR and Marshall is out.

Return man Alex Erickson is active this week, after missing some practice time because of a concussion.
