Butler, Richmond Sr. kick off High School Showcase this weekend


CHARLOTTE - Football is back!

The Carolina Panthers Big Friday High School Football Series kicks off this weekend with a marquee matchup between Butler (1-0) and Richmond Sr. (1-0).

The game is set for 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28 at the newly-renovated American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte. Advanced tickets can be purchased on-line via www.varsitytix.com or on game day at the Memorial Stadium box office. General admission seating is $7.

Butler (Matthews, N.C.) enters the game ranked fourth in the Charlotte Observer State Rankings, while Richmond (Rockingham, N.C.) is ranked sixth.

This game will be a Saturday edition of the Friday Night Showcase, and a number of players from both teams could be playing on Saturdays in the college ranks in coming years.

The two quarterbacks facing off are Butler's Xavion Brower against Richmond's Kellan Hood.

Fans are encouraged to show up early and support their squad as Carolina Panthers Charities will provide a $2500 grant to the school with the best student section. Be on the lookout for Panthers personalities and other special Panthers game elements on Saturday night.

Friday, September 17: Charlotte Catholic vs. Providence, 7:00 p.m.
