CHARLOTTE — The Panthers have added another leg to their special teams unit, claiming Kaare Vedvik off waivers from the Bills.
A native of Norway, Vedvik has previously spent time with the Ravens, Vikings, Jets, Bengals, and Bills. His only regular-season action came in Week 1 of 2019 with the Jets. In that game, he missed a field goal and extra point, but sent three kickoffs for touchbacks.
Vedvik was signed by the Bills in January primarily as a punter, but he was cut earlier this week.
Vedvik played his college ball at Marshall where he averaged 44.0 yards per punt as a senior in 2017. He connected on 41 of his 42 extra points that season and hit 10 of 16 field goals.
The Panthers will make a corresponding roster move once Vedvik has passed all COVID-19 testing protocols.
