Panthers players to fuel Hurricanes in Eastern Conference Final

Facing a must-win situation in the Stanley Cup playoffs, the Carolina Hurricanes are joining forces with the Carolina Panthers.

Luke Kuechly and Christian McCaffrey will serve as siren sounders for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Tuesday night in Raleigh. The Hurricanes trail the Boston Bruins 2-0 in the best-of-seven series but are 5-0 at PNC Arena in the playoffs. That includes their last home game 11 days ago, which completed a sweep of the New York Islanders and featured Panthers head coach Ron Rivera sounding the siren before the opening face-off.

Kuechly, McCaffrey and former University of North Carolina and NBA standout Rasheed Wallace will each get a shot to crank the siren before one of the three periods, and still more Panthers plan to attend the game. Owner David Tepper, recently retired sack artist Julius Peppers, and current players Kawaan Short, Mario Addison, Shaq Thompson and DJ Moore are among those slated to attend.
