CHARLOTTE – The Panthers have released safety Da’Norris Searcy and have waived offensive tackle Isaiah Battle.
Searcy, a University of North Carolina product, signed as an unrestricted free agent last year but played in just two games in 2018 before going on injured reserve (concussion). Battle, a supplemental draft pick out of Clemson in 2015, signed a future contract with the Panthers at the conclusion of last season. He’s never appeared in a regular season game.
Searcy was a candidate to start at safety last year, but now, after opting not to draft a safety in 2019, the Panthers are looking for opportunities to feature some of the others on the roster alongside Eric Reid, among them 2018 third-round draft choice Rashaan Gaulden.
