Terrance Knighton was hired as a coaching assistant with the Panthers in February 2021. Knighton played seven seasons as a defensive tackle in the NFL from 2009-15.

A former NFL defensive tackle for seven seasons, Knighton comes to Carolina from Wagner College where he was the defensive line coach from 2018-20. 

Knighton entered the NFL as a third-round draft pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2009. He played in 61 games in four seasons in Jacksonville, tallying 140 tackles, 7.5 sacks and 20 tackles for loss after earning All-Rookie honors in 2009. He went on to play with Denver for two seasons (2013-14) and spent a year in Washington in 2015.

His 231 career tackles rank in the top 15 of all NFL defensive tackles from 2009-15.

Originally from Hartford, Conn., Knighton played collegiately at Temple from 2005-08.
