Adams added to 53-man roster

CHARLOTTE – Wide receiver Darvin Adams, who was quarterback Cam Newton's favorite target at Auburn last season, has been promoted to the Panthers' 53-man roster.

To make room for Adams, the Panthers waived fullback Jerome Felton.

Adams had been on Carolina's practice squad since joining the unit two days after the Panthers waived him in the final roster cutdown. He spent all of training camp with Carolina after signing with the team as an undrafted rookie free agent.

Last year at Auburn, Adams teamed with Newton to lead the national champion Tigers with 52 receptions for 963 yards and seven touchdowns, highlighted by seven catches for 217 yards and two touchdowns in the SEC Championship Game. In three seasons at Auburn, he caught 115 passes for 1,978 yards and 17 touchdowns before turning pro following his junior season.

Felton, claimed off waivers from Detroit during the preseason, played in nine games with one start and was inactive for one game. He rushed three times for 10 yards and caught two passes for 24 yards.
