Panthers re-sign Teddy Williams

Posted Mar 20, 2017

Defensive back and special teams contributor signs a one-year contract to return to Carolina for third consecutive season.

CHARLOTTE – Cornerback and special teams contributor Teddy Williams has re-signed with the Panthers, inking a one-year contract for the 2017 season. Williams officially became an unrestricted free agent when the new league year began March 9.

Williams recorded his first career interception last season before suffering a season-ending knee injury after playing in just three games.

"I was growing on defense and being able to contribute like I was doing, it sucked to have that injury and not be able to be out there with my brothers," Williams said. "I definitely want to take strides and be a part of the defensive unit. I want to show the coaches that I can be counted on defense in addition to special teams, which they already know."

Williams is most known for his acumen on special teams, piling up 10 tackles on special teams in 2015, his first season with the Panthers.

The college track star known for his lightning speed entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie in 2010.
