Panthers sign six tryout players

Posted May 16, 2016

After six players earn roster spots at rookie minicamp, Carolina parts ways with veteran cornerback Brandon Boykin and two others.

CHARLOTTE – The Panthers have signed six tryout players who participated in the team’s rookie minicamp. Their names are listed below.

Carolina entered the rookie minicamp with five available roster spots. To make room for the six signings, the team parted ways with three players – cornerback Brandon Boykin, cornerback Ras-I Dowling and wide receiver Jenson Stoshak.

Boykin signed as a free agent in late March, but the Panthers like what they’ve seen from James Bradberry, Daryl Worley and Zack Sanchez - the three cornerbacks they selected in the 2016 NFL Draft.

"I think those three guys really have an opportunity to impact us this year," head coach Ron Rivera said after rookie minicamp practice. "I was really pleased with the movement and skills they showed."

The Panthers now have 88 players on the roster (90 is the limit).
