CHARLOTTE – Rookie draft picks Zack Sanchez and Beau Sandland were among cuts made to reach the 53-man roster limit Saturday.

Sanchez, the Panthers' fifth-round draft choice from Oklahoma, was competing for playing time at nickel cornerback. Sandland, the Panthers' seventh-round pick from Montana State, was looking to provide depth behind veteran tight ends Greg Olsen and Ed Dickson.

The team also released defensive tackle Kyle Love and waived running back Brandon Wegher.

Love played in 15 games with two starts for Carolina in 2015, recording three sacks and 19 tackles. Wegher was inactive for all but one game in 2015 but was hoping to provide depth at running back and value on special teams.

Guard Chris Scott has been suspended for the first four games of the regular season for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances. He will be eligible to return to the active roster on October 3.
