QUARTERBACKS PREVIEW: Cam Newton was named league MVP after a masterful 2015 season in which he compiled an astounding 45 total touchdowns. Seasoned veteran Derek Anderson is Newton's backup for the sixth consecutive year, and Joe Webb – who plays a role on special teams and can fill in at wide receiver – returns as the third-stringer.

1. What does Newton have in store for 2016?

Everyone is curious to see how Newton follows up his MVP season. He set the bar incredibly high after passing for 3,387 yards and 35 touchdowns and rushing for 636 yards and 10 touchdowns. Head coach Ron Rivera believes the superstar quarterback still has plenty of room to improve. Newton agrees. If Newton plays better in 2016, it will be a sight to behold.

2. Will his completion percentage rise?

Newton has spoken previously about his desire to increase his completion percentage. He completed 59.8 percent of his passes in 2015 – right in line with his career average of 59.6. If he can be more precise on the quick throws and get that number up around 65 percent, look out.

3. Will his rushing attempts decrease?

This is a topic of conversation every year for Newton, who is such a dynamic ball-carrier. Last year, he posted a career-high 132 rushing attempts. The zone-read has been a staple of the Carolina offense and Newton is often the one delivering the punishment at 6-5 and 250 pounds, but Rivera is always cognizant of the physical toll it could take.
