CHARLOTTE — Panthers' running back Rico Dowdle has been named one of the Air & Ground Players of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday. Dowdle shares the award this week with Giants running back Cam Skattebo.
The news comes following Dowdle's franchise-leading 239-yards from scrimmage in the win against the Cowboys in Week 6.
Dowdle finished with 183 rushing yards, and 56 receiving yards and a touchdown on five receptions. It is the second straight week Dowdle accumulated 200-plus yards from scrimmage, following a 234-yards from scrimmage performance in the win against the Dolphins in Week 5.
The Air & Ground Player of the Week is a fan based vote that recognizes quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends. Dowdle was nominated last week, but this is his first win of the season.
By winning the Air & Ground NFL Player of the Week Awards, FedEx will proudly offer a $2,000 donation in Rico Dowdle and Cam Skattebo's names to Feeding America for a local food bank in Carolina and New York.
