2019 Mock Draft Report 2.0: Edge rushers gaining steam?

You're not seeing double. Not seeing triple.

It's just that early in the mock draft game, an abundance of analysts have locked in on a position and a couple of prospects for the Panthers. The position is edge rusher, and the prospects are Clelin Ferrell from Clemson and Montez Sweat from Mississippi State.

While there's nothing close to a mock consensus across the board at this early juncture, just about every draft analyst agrees that pass rushers Nick Bosa and Josh Allen will be long gone by the time the Panthers pick at No. 16. Some see Farrell and Sweat as good as gone as well; some see one if not both still on the board when Carolina is on the clock.

Either way, a lot of analysts agree that the Panthers should look to shore up their pass rush early in the draft, making reference to the recent retirement of Julius Peppers in the process. Luke Easterling of USA Today calls Ferrell "a well-rounded prospect who can start immediately." Danny Kelly of The Ringers calls Sweat "a big addition to a hard-nosed Panthers front."
