CHARLOTTE — Panthers' rookie receiver Tetairoa McMillan has been named the NFL rookie of the week, the league announced on Thursday. The award comes on the heels of McMillan's two-touchdown performance in the Panthers' Week 6 win against the Cowboys.

The No. 8 overall pick in this years draft, McMillan was named rookie of the week by a fan vote over Giants' QB Jaxson Dart and RB Cam Skattebo, Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty, Packers WR Matthew Golden, and Colts TE Tyler Warren.

McMillan currently has 27 receptions for 380 yards, which is second amongst all rookies, behind Emeka Egbuka of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Despite being the Panthers' top receiver, McMillan went through the first five weeks without a touchdown. By games end on Sunday, he had two: a 19-yard pass from Bryce Young, and a 2-yard pass in the fourth quarter.

"Obviously, he's been huge for us," said Bryce Young on Sunday of his receiver. "He's a great player, continuing to just get better and better and grow, and I'm super grateful that it was able to pay off for him, getting in the end zone. I mean, he deserves it. He's been working hard. He's been doing amazing all season."
