EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The Panthers are getting a key contributor on defense back Sunday, but they're also making yet another change on the offensive line.
Defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton returns to the lineup after missing the last two games with a toe injury. He also missed two games earlier this year with a hamstring.
But they will be without left guard Damien Lewis, after he suffered a shoulder injury in practice on Thursday. He traveled with the team and was considered a game-time decision but will not play today.
That means they'll employ their sixth different offensive line in seven games, as Austin Corbett is expected to start at left guard in his place. Corbett returned to practice this week after his stint on injured reserve with a left knee injury.
Lewis is the only player to have started every game on the offensive line this season, though that group has continued to perform well. They're fourth in the league in rushing, sixth in first downs gained, and seventh in the league in sacks allowed per pass play, despite all those changes.
In addition to Lewis, the other inactives are wide receiver Hunter Renfrow, running back DeeJay Dallas, tight end James Mitchell, and defensive tackles Cam Jackson and Jaden Crumedy.
Jalen Coker is back this week after his stint on IR, and the Panthers have Chuba Hubbard back in the lineup this week after missing two games with a calf injury. Tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders is also back after missing three games with a hamstring issue.
