2019 Mock Draft Report 4.0: Wide receivers in play for Panthers?

Now that the dust has settled from the first wave of free agency, many teams have addressed obvious needs. As a result, the mock drafts start looking a little different. Take the Panthers for example. After signing center Matt Paradis to a three-year deal, we won't be seeing N.C. State center Garrett Bradbury connected to Carolina (that was a popular prediction a couple weeks ago). With that said, here are some thoughts on the latest Mock Draft Report:

  • Not one, but TWO wide receivers featured this week! Nothing gets the fan base going quite like wide receivers. With Devin Funchess now a Colt, it's not totally crazy to mock big-bodied targets like N'Keal Harry and D.K. Metcalf to Carolina. But it would certainly be a surprise to many if the Panthers went wide receiver in Round One for the second consecutive year.
  • It's obvious to everyone why edge rushers are being tied to the Panthers. Clemson defensive end Clelin Ferrell continues to be a popular choice and Michigan defensive lineman Rashan Gary has popped up a couple times.
  • After re-signing Daryl Williams and cutting Matt Kalil, it's understandable to wonder what's next for this team at offensive tackle. Greg Little from Ole Miss is the lone offensive tackle feature this week, but guys like Andre Dillard (Washington State) and Jonah Williams (Alabama) are also in that middle of the first round conversation.
