Beason, Davis questionable

The health of the Carolina Panthers improved throughout the week, but the status of linebackers Jon Beason and Thomas Davis remains up in the air just two days before their Week 4 matchup against Atlanta.

Defensive end Antwan Applewhite (knee) did not participate in practice Friday and is doubtful. Davis (calf) and defensive end Greg Hardy (hand) were full participants and are questionable.

Beason (knee) was limited but practiced for the first time this week and is questionable. If Beason cannot play, Jason Phillips will take his place at middle linebacker.

"Mentally, (Jon) was in it. On Monday, Wednesday, Thursday he stayed in it," head coach Ron Rivera said. "He was spot on in the limited reps he took (Friday)."

"He is a warrior and he wants to be out on the field as much as possible," Rivera added. "Sometimes, it's not always the best thing and that's a judgment I have to make."

Running back Jonathan Stewart (toe), cornerback Chris Gamble (shoulder), safety Colin Jones (shoulder) and defensive end Thomas Keiser (tibia) practiced fully on Friday and are probable.

Guard Mike Pollak will not play because of a shoulder injury.
