Draft Preview: Tight Ends

MIKE MAYOCK'S TOP FIVE

Hunter Henry
6-5, 250, Arkansas

The consensus No.1 tight end in the class, Henry is what many consider to be a complete tight end. Won the John Mackey award for the nation's best tight end in 2015 after posting 51 catches for 739 yards and three touchdowns. Henry is a consistent target in the passing game and has been a capable run blocker.

Austin Hooper
6-4, 254, Stanford

Elected to turn pro after redshirt sophomore season where he recorded 34 catches for 438 yards and six touchdowns. Has room to grow and technique to refine after just two seasons at Stanford, but brings playmaking ability.

Jerell Adams
6-5, 247, South Carolina

An intriguing prospect with physical tools to excel. Adams recorded 28 catches for 421 yards and three touchdowns as a senior in 2015. His 4.64 40-yard dash was the fastest time among tight ends at the Scouting Combine.

Nick Vannett
6-6, 257, Ohio State

Recorded just 19 catches each of the past two seasons with the Buckeyes' loaded offense. Five of his 19 catches in 2014 went for touchdowns. Has the size NFL teams look for in the position.

Ben Braunecker
6-3, 250, Harvard

Led Harvard with 48 catches for 850 yards and eight touchdowns, the second-highest total in school history. Impressed in drills at the Scouting Combine, posting top time in 60-yard shuttle and ranking top-three in 3-cone drill, vertical jump and bench press.

COMBINE STANDOUT

Beau Sandland
6-4, 253, Montana State

Posted the top broad jump (10'4") among tight ends. His 23 bench reps ranked second among all tight ends and 35-inch vertical jump ranked third. Ran a 4.74 40-yard dash.
