DT Leonard waived

!

The Carolina Panthers have waived defensive tackle Louis Leonard. He played in two games and was inactive for one game this season, registering three tackles.

In his fourth NFL season, Leonard was acquired by the Panthers in a trade with the Cleveland Browns during the 2009 preseason in exchange for a 2010 sixth-round draft choice. He played in two games with one start last year and posted 11 tackles and one sack before suffering a fractured left ankle on Carolina's final defensive play at Atlanta in Week 2 and being placed on injured reserve.

The Panthers did not immediately replace Leonard, meaning they have an open spot on the 53-man roster.
