SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Defensive end Kony Ealy has entered the concussion protocol after suffering the injury at the end of Saturday's practice.
"Kony is in the protocol. We have to be careful, we have to be smart," head coach Ron Rivera said.
Wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin and defensive end Charles Johnson were given the day off.
"Vet days today for Kelvin and Charles. They'll be a few more guys tomorrow that will get vet days," Rivera said.
It was an up and down day on both sides of the ball Sunday. Rivera was frustrated with some mental errors but was proud of the way the team battled through the hottest practice yet. Head athletic trainer Ryan Vermillion said the heat index was 114.
"I thought they did a good job pushing themselves through today," Rivera said. "Tomorrow will be a great test, and we'll find out what we're made of. It's going to be a tough one. Five straight days of practice, third straight fully-padded practice."
Following Monday's practice, the players will get a chance to leave camp for a day off on Tuesday.
