Enhanced security measures continue

Fans are encouraged to arrive at Bank of America Stadium 15 minutes earlier than in previous years for the Carolina Panthers game against the New York Giants on Thursday in order to complete the NFL's mandated enhanced security screening process.

Because the enhanced screening that includes hand-held metal-detecting wands and/or pat-downs will result in a longer entry process, it is recommended that fans arrive early and allow extra time when entering the stadium. Gates open for Thursday's primetime contest at 6 p.m.

"We're working through the process," said Carolina Panthers Director of Stadium Operations Scott Paul. "It's new to our folks and it's new to our patrons. It's a less invasive procedure but it's slower. We're trying to encourage people to come 15 or 20 minutes earlier than in the past."

Fans are urged to use all three stadium entrances since approximately 44 percent of all spectators enter through the North Gate.

The enhanced security measures were implemented in the preseason and will be in place for every home game throughout the 2012 season.
