CHARLOTTE – Defensive tackle Kawann Short and guard Trai Turner are listed questionable for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings.

"They'll play," head coach Ron Rivera said.

Short (shoulder) and Turner (ankle) were full participants at Friday's practice. Rookie linebacker Jeremy Cash (hamstring) did not practice all week and is doubtful.

Rivera said Cameron Artis-Payne would start at running back in place of Jonathan Stewart (hamstring), assuming the Panthers open in an offensive package that suits Artis-Payne. That doesn't guarantee that Artis-Payne will get the bulk of the carries, Rivera added.

BALL PROMOTED: The Panthers filled their open spot on the active roster by elevating safety Marcus Ball from the practice squad.

Ball spent the entire 2015 on Carolina's practice squad. He played 12 games with two starts for the New Orleans Saints in 2014.

Ball takes the place of safety Dean Marlowe, who was placed on injured reserve after the victory over San Francisco with a hamstring injury.
