Following his historic Monday Night Football debut, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been named NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

Newton became the fifth quarterback in the history of Monday Night Football to pass for two touchdowns and rush for two touchdowns on his way to 306 passing yards and 52 rushing yards.

His first two-touchdown rushing game of the season gives him 20 career rushing touchdowns, making him the first quarterback in NFL history (and the 25th player) to rush for 20 touchdowns in his first two NFL seasons.

Newton completed 18-of-28 passes and generated a 125.0 passer rating – his second highest of the season – to lead the Panthers to a 30-22 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

This marks Newton's second player-of-the-week honor, first achieved as a rookie in a Week 13 victory at Tampa Bay. It marks the 14th time an offensive player has won the award for the Panthers.
