CHARLOTTE -- The Panthers have added two new scouts and made additional adjustments in the scouting department.

Eric Stokes and Joel Patten have been brought in to scout the Southwest and Midwest respectively. The positions opened when Carolina's assistant director of college scouting Ryan Cowden left to become the Tennessee Titans' director of player personnel and longtime college scout John Peterson retired.

Stokes, a former NFL safety, was most recently the assistant general manager for the Miami Dolphins. He was previously the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' director of college scouting.

Patten, a former NFL offensive tackle, was most recently the San Francisco 49ers' director of player personnel. He was previously their director of college scouting.

Additionally, the Panthers announced new titles within the department. Don Gregory, formerly the director of college scouting, is now director of player personnel. Jeff Morrow, formerly a national scout/senior college scout, is now assistant director of college scouting. And Mike Szabo, formerly a college scout, is now a national scout.
