SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Carolina Panthers have a new attendance record, and they're not even close to the finish line.

Just halfway through 2016 training camp presented by Lowe's, the Panthers have established a new attendance record. The 10,226 fans that showed up for Thursday's practice – the seventh of 14 scheduled practices – pushed this year's attendance to a record total of 79,804. The previous record was 77,625, established last year.

"It's really neat because when our fans show up in force and do anything for us, it brings energy to practice," head coach Ron Rivera said. "The players feed off that energy and support."

"When I was here as a rookie, you could come in and you could find a seat anywhere," said defensive tackle Star Lotulelei, who was a rookie in 2013. "But now, it's packed. It's great."
