Panthers reduce roster

CHARLOTTE – The Carolina Panthers made their first round of roster cuts Saturday. Nine players were waived and three more were waived/injured.

Third-year wide receiver Kealoha Pilares, who suffered a knee injury on the opening kickoff Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens, was waived/injured along with fourth-year offensive tackle Bruce Campbell, who suffered a rotator cuff injury in training camp. Rookie fullback Michael Zordich, who was also waived/injured, tore his anterior cruciate ligament in the preseason opener.

The Panthers must cut three more players by Tuesday to reach the 75-man roster limit. The roster must be trimmed to 53 by Saturday.
