CHARLOTTE – After three seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, cornerback Captain Munnerlyn is returning to Carolina on a four-year deal.

The Panthers drafted Munnerlyn from South Carolina in the seventh round of the 2009 draft, and 5-foot-9, 195-pounder developed into a productive nickel corner.

Following an impressive 2013 season in which he recorded or matched career bests in tackles (74), sacks (3.5), interceptions returned for touchdowns (two) and passes defensed (12), Munnerlyn signed a lucrative deal with the Vikings. He recorded four interceptions and 11 passes defensed during his three seasons in Minnesota.

Now, with the Panthers in need of a nickel, Munnerlyn is back where it all began.

"This is where my career started," Munnerlyn said. "This is the organization that gave me the opportunity to play this game at a high level and at the next level. I'm happy to be back."
