CHARLOTTE – The Panthers have brought back defensive end Wes Horton on a one-year deal after waiving wide receiver Damiere Byrd.

Horton has played 34 games for Carolina over the past three seasons, recording six sacks and 41 tackles. He was released prior to the start of the regular season and has not yet played in 2016.

The Panthers have always viewed Horton as a reliable run-stopping defensive end who can set the edge.

Byrd impressed throughout offseason workouts and training camp, earning his way onto the 53-man roster after spending 2015 on Carolina's practice squad. The speedy wide receiver and return man had not yet been active through five games.
