CHARLOTTE – The Panthers have signed rookie tight end Wyatt Houston to replace Desean Smith, who was waived with an injury settlement. Houston participated in Carolina's OTA practice session Wednesday.

Houston, 6-4 and 255 pounds, was a four-year contributor at Utah State. He ranks second all-time in school history among tight ends in receptions (86), receiving yards (933) and touchdown receptions (nine).

Houston originally signed as an undrafted free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs, but was waived following the team's rookie minicamp.
