CHARLOTTE – Guard Chris Scott, wide receiver Tavarres King and safety Robert Lester were among 21 players cut by the Panthers on Saturday to reach the 53-man roster limit for the regular season.

Scott played in 10 games with the first eight starts of his career for Carolina in 2013. He suffered a knee injury in Week 9 and did not play in the following six games.

King, who was claimed off waivers from Denver in 2013, was inactive for 10 games with Carolina. He was involved in a competitive battle for roster spots at wide receiver during training camp and the preseason.

Lester played in 12 games with four starts at strong safety last season as an undrafted rookie.

Defensive end Frank Alexander, who is suspended for the first four games of the regular season for violating the NFL policy and program for substances of abuse, does not count against the roster limit until the suspension expires. At that point, the Panthers will have to make a corresponding roster move.

Below is a complete list of the final cuts.
