SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Safety Dean Marlowe has been waived / injured and the Panthers claimed defensive end Arthur Miley to fill the open spot on the roster.

Marlowe, who was entering his third season, was a prime candidate to provide depth behind starting safeties Demetrious Cox and Mike Adams. Last year, he was placed on injured reserve in September with a hamstring injury.

Miley is a familiar face, having signed with Carolina as an undrafted free agent in 2015. He was recently with the Miami Dolphins before they waived him to make room for quarterback Jay Cutler. Miley has not yet played in an NFL regular season game.
