CHARLOTTE — The Panthers found a younger option at backup quarterback.

According to multiple reports, including from NFL Network, the Panthers agreed to terms with quarterback Kenny Pickett on Monday. Deals can't become official until Wednesday.

The 27-year-old was with the Raiders last season. A former first-round pick of the Steelers, he's also spent time with the Eagles and Browns.

Pickett won an ACC title in Bank of America Stadium with the University of Pittsburgh and was a Heisman finalist.

He's appeared in 36 games with 27 starts in his career, and has a 16-11 record as a starter (going 7-5 each of his first two years with the Steelers).

Here, he'll compete for the backup role, as general manager Dan Morgan said he wanted to create competition for veteran Andy Dalton.
