CHARLOTTE – Guard Trai Turner has been named to the 2017 Pro Bowl, taking the place of Washington guard Brandon Scherff, who is unable to participate due to injury.

Turner, who was named to his first Pro Bowl last year, will join tight end Greg Olsen, linebacker Thomas Davis and fullback Mike Tolbert for the game on January 29 in Orlando. Linebacker Luke Kuechly was also selected, but he will not attend.

Turner started all 16 games for the Panthers in his third season. Three of those starts came at right tackle as Turner was called on to fill in for then injured starter Daryl Williams.

"When you see how athletic he is and his ability to do those types of things, you really see his value for us," head coach Ron Rivera said during the season. "That's important to have that kind of flexibility but also have the willingness to do it. That sends a great message to everybody in that locker room, that guys are going to do whatever they can to help us win a football game. That's impressive."
