What fans attending International Champions Cup need to know

CHARLOTTE - European soccer giants FC Bayern Munich and F.C. Internazionale will face off at Bank of America Stadium on Saturday, July 30 as part of the 2016 International Champions Cup. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. Eastern, with gates opening at 3:30 p.m.

Once at the gates, Saturday's attendees will be the first to experience the stadium's new security screening setup.

"We think it is going to expedite people coming into the building once they get an idea for how it works," said executive director – risk management Lance Emory. "We've taken a huge step forward."

Fans' understanding of and adherence to the new policies will be key to the efficiency of the entry process. While the 95 walkthrough magnetometers that will be used in place of wanding might remind patrons of a trip to the airport, the process is much simpler. Fans only need remove large metal objects like cell phones, cameras and binoculars from their pockets while keeping things like wallets, keys and loose change in their pockets.

Not bringing a bag will allow fans even quicker access, though bags that adhere to the NFL Bag Policy are still permitted as in recent years.

Will the NFL Bag Policy be enforced?

Are there new security screening procedures for fans?Yes, as part of enhanced security measures for all events at Bank of America Stadium fans will be screened using new walkthrough magnetometers. The walkthrough magnetometers will be used in place of the wanding procedure that was previously used for screening.

Are noise makers permitted inside the stadium?

Noise makers, such as vuvuzelas, are a prohibited item inside Bank of America Stadium and will NOT be permitted.

Are fans able to smoke at Bank of America Stadium?

Bank of America Stadium is a smoke-free facility. Smoking is prohibited inside all areas of the stadium including concourses, seating areas, and all suites and club areas. This includes, but is not limited to, cigarettes, vapor cigarettes and electronic cigarettes.
