The Carolina Panthers and American Cancer Society (ACS) have announced the results of the 2015 High School Crucial Catch program. Nineteen schools from across the Carolinas collectively raised $55,600 for breast cancer research and patient support programs during the 2015 high school football season.
Each school received a Crucial Catch tool kit to help with their own "pink out" game efforts. The kits included stadium banners, pink cheer poms, pink wristbands and other game day elements. Panthers tight end Greg Olsen also recorded custom stadium announcements for the schools.
The High School Crucial Catch program was piloted by the Panthers and ACS in 2013 and has raised $115,000 in funding since then with Fort Mill (S.C.) High School leading all schools with an impressive $23,000 in 2015. The successful program has been adopted by other teams across the NFL.
"The Panthers are pleased to have again partnered with the American Cancer Society and the tremendous roster of Crucial Catch high schools that made this year's effort such a success," said Carolina Panthers director of community relations Riley Fields. "The incredible engagement level of our partner schools set a record fundraising amount for the program that will serve women in our region but just as importantly reinforced the message of early detection by encouraging mammogram screenings."
