CHARLOTTE -- Cherokee County (SC), Clover (SC), Winston-Salem/Forsyth County and Yadkin County (NC) School Districts have been selected to receive "NFL FLAG in Schools" equipment grants from the NFL Foundation, the Carolina Panthers and Southeast Dairy Association. The equipment grants will serve 100 elementary and middle schools in the two-state region by providing comprehensive NFL FLAG kits. The kits, valued at $375 each, will provide schools with new resources to support enhanced physical education curriculum opportunities through NFL FLAG.

In addition to the NFL FLAG in Schools equipment kits, schools will receive an NFL FLAG physical education curriculum for middle and elementary schools.  The curriculum provides physical education teachers with lesson plans for standard 40-minute physical education classes and are aligned with SHAPE America's national standards.

Each NFL FLAG kit includes the following:

  • 50 FLAG belts
  • 10 footballs
  • Set of three kicking tees
  • Elementary and Middle School Curriculum
  • Welcome/Intro letter to PE teachers
  • Poster
  • Mesh equipment bag

"NFL FLAG is a terrific way for boys and girls to improve motor skills and coordination while getting physical activity minutes in a fun and engaging way," said Mickela Mitchell, Manager of School Health and Wellness for the Southeast Dairy Association. "We value our on-going partnership with the Carolina Panthers and NFL Foundation, which provides important resources and opportunities for over 3,000 schools in the Carolinas through the Play 60 physical activity program and the Fuel Up to Play 60 nutrition program."
