Panthers fans, Harris Teeter customers "Round UP" over $1 million to fight food insecurity

Harris Teeter round up

CHARLOTTE - Panthers fans and Harris Teeter customers helped feed North and South Carolina this past holiday season.

As part of the store's "Round Up" campaign, customers added just a little more to each purchase which added up in a big way for local food banks.

Harris Teeter customers in the Carolinas rounded up to the tune of $1.1 million in November and December, while Harris Teeter as a whole donated more than 1.5 million to hunger relief partners. Panthers fans that used their VIC cards when rounding up were automatically entered to win an exclusive game day experience.

"We are extremely thankful for our generous shoppers and valued associates who help feed our food-insecure neighbors each year," said Paige Pauroso, communications specialist for Harris Teeter. "Harris Teeter is proud to support its local food bank partners and their mission to end hunger."

As part of the company's Harvest Feast programming, Harris Teeter associates also volunteered at food banks in Charlotte, N.C. to pack holiday meal bags for community members-in-need. Associates assembled 2,000 boxes to provide thousands of families a holiday meal.
