Panthers to donate weight room equipment

The Carolina Panthers are giving new meaning to free weights. Four high schools in North and South Carolina will be awarded a total of $250,000 worth of weight room equipment through the team's High School Weight Room Makeover program.

Winning high school athletic programs will receive the actual weight training equipment previously used by the Panthers for the team's strength and conditioning program. In addition to lower and upper body equipment, each school will get more than 1,000 pounds in free weights. The equipment is expertly maintained and in excellent condition.

All high schools in North and South Carolina are eligible to apply. The Carolina Panthers High School Weight Room Grant application must be completed in its entirety and include all specified information in the designated order. Incomplete applications will be returned and will not be eligible for consideration after the entry due date.

Applications must be postmarked by July 15, 2011, and returned to the Carolina Panthers, Attn: Weight Room Grant Application, 800 South Mint Street, Charlotte, NC, 28202. Applications received by fax will not be eligible. Winning schools must take delivery of the equipment the week of July 25, 2011.
