The story behind Thomas Davis' special cleats for Monday night

CHARLOTTE - Thomas Davis is utilizing his "My Cause My Cleats" platform to support a young football player fighting to get back on his feet after suffering a serious injury.

Da'Shawn Ivey, an eighth grader at Sun Valley Middle School in Indian Trail, N.C., suffered a serious spinal injury while playing in the county championship game on November 3. After hearing about the injury, Davis visited Ivey to offer him encouragement. His latest show of support will be on full display during the Panthers' clash with the Saints on Monday Night Football.

Davis plans to auction off the cleats after the game and says he'll match the donation to help Ivey and his family.

"He's not a kid sitting in the hospital right now feeling sorry for himself. He's faced with some tough circumstances but he has a positive outlook on it all and he's excited about regaining his strength and the ability to walk again," Davis said. "To meet him and see that motivated me, and I want to do something to help he and his family out as much as we can."
