Three players placed on Physically Unable to Perform list

SPARTANBURG – Wide receiver Torrey Smith and linebackers Jermaine Carter and Brandon Chubb will start training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.

Smith played a career-low 11 games last year after suffering a mid-season knee injury. Carter and Chubb aggravated their knees during minicamp.

"We were very cautious," general manager Marty Hurney said. "(Smith's) doing well. With him and Jermaine, I think it's just they're not quite 100 percent. We want to give them a period of time and we can bring them off active PUP at any time."

Another piece of notable news is the three players who aren't on it. Center Matt Paradis (leg), offensive lineman Daryl Williams (knee) and Ian Thomas (leg) have been cleared after they were limited during spring workouts.
