CHARLOTTE — No, new quarterback Cam Newton wasn't at football practice Thursday.

But a couple of guys who weren't practicing earlier in the week were.

Defensive end Brian Burns and outside linebacker Frankie Luvu graduated out of the red jerseys they were wearing Wednesday, and were back in some degree of action Thursday.

Luvu (knee) and Burns (foot) were both listed as limited participants.

Cornerback Stephon Gilmore (quad) was added to the injury report as limited. He was not on the report Wednesday, and played a limited number of reps since he was activated two weeks ago.

Quarterback Sam Darnold did not participate again Thursday. He's expected to miss four to six weeks with a shoulder injury and is expected to be placed on injured reserve later this week. He was wearing street clothes, and on the field along with quarterbacks P.J. Walker and Matt Barkley.

Cornerbacks Stantley Thomas-Oliver III (toe) and Rashaan Melvin (hand) were also in red jerseys. Thomas-Oliver did not participate, while Melvin was limited.

Linebackers Shaq Thompson (foot) and Jermaine Carter Jr. (groin), cornerback CJ Henderson (shoulder) and defensive end Marquis Haynes Sr. (foot) were listed as full participants. Haynes was not on the injury report Wednesday.
